    Making Gooey Goop

goopactivity.jpgThis activity is great but MESSY so be prepared. Should not be done without adult supervision. We sometimes do this activity in the bath tub* so it's easy to clean up!

    What you will need:

    2 cups water

    3 Tablespoons cold water

    1/2 cup corn starch

    Food coloring

Boil the 2 cups of water. While water is boiling, mix cold water with corn starch to dissolve thoroughly into liquid. Stir in cold mixture to boiling water. The mixture will start to turn into goop, add preferred drops of food coloring and let cool completely before use. Separate into bowls to make several colors. Squishy texture makes for great "finger painting" art!

*WARNING-test tub for food coloring discoloration prior to use.

We tried this and yes, it was messy but the texture was amazing. We also put it in plastic baggies to squish around in. Abbey loved mushing it and spreading it everywhere (in the tub at the end, great suggestion) and "painting" on the picnic table. A+ activity!
